Belonging to the Church

I am still re-reading and enjoying “Starting a House Church” by Kreider and McClung. Here’s another quote about the church and God’s heart that we all belong to it.

The Bible defines church very simply because God wants everyone who follows Jesus to be a part of it. Jesus not only came to die on the cross for our sins but to empower every person who follows Him to discover their place in the spiritual family, the Church. That’s one of the reasons He made us all “priests” in the Church. (p.60)

I really believe that as Christians God wants all of us to meet with other Christians regularly in some form. Whether it is a traditional church or one that might meet in a house, there is so much blessing, encouragement and support that comes from belonging.

If you are a Christian and you currently don’t meet with other Christians, I would encourage you to pray and ask God to show you a place where you can be knit into and serve. I believe none of us can reach our potential for God if we don’t meet with others who share our faith.

To help you find somewhere here are an alphabetical list of a few of the major denominations that meet in Australia each week.

God Bless,

Dave
