Working together to get the job done
July 9th, 2009
Over the last few weeks I have been really blessed by the servant heart of our church members. We have been doing up our church manse where the new Ministers will live when they arrive in a few weeks.
I have been doing some painting so I have been down there a few days per week for the last couple of weeks. As I have been there I have noticed people coming and going to do little bits and pieces to improve the home. Some have been cleaning up the garden and putting in new plants, some have been filling cracks in walls, some have been painting, while others have been arranging trades people to get the big jobs done.
It has been great to see this coming and going of people. There has been no fuss or dramas, people have just been coming to do the things they are good at or have some time to do. Many have tried to sneak down and do the work without others knowing!
Even with the painting I have noticed some people have preferred to do ceilings, while others feel more comfortable with undercoating, while others like doing doors or the final coats. It has been a blessing to see how things have fallen into place.
For me this has been a great blessing to watch and be a part of. It has been about people serving God and expecting nothing in return. Our members have just had the desire to make the home of our new Minister’s nicer for them, so they can settle in easily and enjoy their new accommodation.
It is great to be a part of something that is bigger than yourself.
God Bless,
Dave
