I had an interesting discussion with some friends last week about why people go to church. There was about 12 of us and we went around the group and shared our thoughts. I found it was an interesting discussion and it was good to hear why people went to church.

There were a number of reasons why people came. Things like the fellowship, friendship, corporate worship, having communion with others, to learn from the Bible and to serve and minister to people all were mentioned. Some even said to be obedient to God’s command to go.

However, of all the reasons people said one grabbed me the most. One person simply said, “Because I just love it”. They just loved everything about attending church and couldn’t just put it down to one or two things. I thought that was really cool and I was encouraged by their love and enthusiasm for it. It was one of the highlights of their week and it showed!
